PfS Centres exist in most of the major English sporting venues,
including top rugby, football and cricket clubs.
The Centres are jointly funded by the sports clubs,
the DfES and local education authorities.

PfS courses last for 20 hours and students attend a 2 – 4 hour
after school session each week.
The targeted age range is 10 – 14 years with an equal
mix of boys and girls. Transport to and from school is provided.

The maximum group size is 15 students with a minimum of 2 adults.
The courses focus on Literacy and/or Numeracy, and ICT,
supporting the aims of the National Strategies.
Modules are placed in a sporting context with
emphasis placed on boosting self-esteem and positive
attitudes to learning.
